Kantipur FM is the first private FM Station established in October 1998. It is especially popular in the eastern region of Nepal with 96% listenership according to the research done by AC Nielsen, Nepal . It is the most listened Radio Station in the Capital City Kathmandu with more than 80% listenership figure. The station is popular for its' prompt news service and varieties of entertaining programs with special focus on music, lifestyle and leisure. The expertise in identifying the audience's preferences, combined with outstanding on-air personalities, has helped, kantipur FM 96.1, maintain a loyal listening audience.
History
1995 – the establishment of Kantipur FM
October 1998 – Kantipur FM 96.1 starts its independent broadcasting from its own station.
October 1999 - Kantipur FM goes 24 hours on air
2001 – Eastern Region Transmission from Bhendetar Station.

Library
The library of the Fm station is equipped with huge collection of varieties of songs and the studios are equipped with AudioVault workstations and are capable of recording, playing and tracking the elements, making it much easier to play them on-air. Kantipur FM, on its anniversary, every year maintains a tradition of honoring the top ten Nepali singers, musicians, bands and lyricists to encourage and motivate them to bring out the best of their talents.

We have the privilege of airing the ENTIRE National Radio advertisements produced so far, which means whichever National Radio Jingle (AD) is made is sent to be aired through our station. We are glorified to inform you that Kalika FM 95.2 is the only FM station outside the Capital, which has an airtime of 24 hours day.

April 1996 - HITS FM, Hits Nepal Pvt. Ltd.’s fm radio station goes on air.
